133-pound senior Joey Morrison of Lincoln goes for a pin this past weekend during the Loper Open. The Lopers, ranked 8th in Division II, host this event every year, and it brings in larger and better competition each time. This Loper Open saw wrestlers competing from schools such as Wyoming, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Chadron State and UNO. The event is a non-team scoring contest, so wrestlers can feature their skills individually. Leading the way for the Lopers was 149-pound sophomore T.J. Hepburn of East Hampton, Conn. He captured his second tournament title in two weeks by finishing 5-0 in his weight class.

The Loper wrestling team faces a tough challenge Friday when they will dual both Central Michigan and Nebraska in Lincoln. From there, the Lopers will kick off 2010 traveling to Dana for the Dana Open on Jan. 2.
